Ben Shephard has paid tribute to a Tipping Point contestant who passed away before their appearance on the show.
Taking to Twitter ahead of Wednesday’s episode, the host shared that contestant Rav had died before his episode made it to air.
Sharing a photo with Rav, a logistics manager from Birmingham, in front of the machine, Ben revealed the sad news.
‘Since we recorded today’s Tipping Point, Rav’s family have shared the sad news of his passing,’ he wrote.
‘I loved playing alongside him, and along with all the Tipping Point team we are sending his family and friends all our love.’
Viewers sent their condolences to the family, with many saying that he was a great contestant and seemed like a lovely man.
‘No way, I’m watching at the minute willing him to win,’ one person wrote.
‘Always sad to hear of someone passing between the record & the airing. Am sure that all of us on the #TippingPoint feed send our condolences to his family & friends,’ another added.
‘Sad news. Condolences to his family. He was a great contestant,’ someone else wrote.
‘Watching this and thinking what a genuinely lovely gent. And then I saw this. So so sad. My heart goes out to his family,’ another comment read.
In the episode, Rav managed to beat the other contestants to make it through to the final round.
However he didn’t have much luck in his final round of questions, being left without any counters to add into the machine.
When it came down to the final decision, his choice seemed reasonable when he decided to walk away with the £2750 he had won so far.
As Ben put it, Rav was a ‘cracking competitor’.
Following news of Rav’s death, a statement was also released on the official Tipping Point Facebook page.
‘After the recording of today’s program, we spoke with Rav’s family who shared the sad news of his passing,’ it read.
‘Everyone at Tipping Point would like to extend their sincerest sympathies.’
Sadly it’s not the first time a Tipping Point contestant has died before their episode has aired this year.
In May a contestant called Cath passed away, with Ben also posting a photo paying tribute to her and her time on the show.
Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
