Big Brother housemate Kerry , has come under criticism for using the word ‘gay’ negatively.
The incident occurred on the event’s live broadcast following the main show on Sunday.
Kerry has already enraged fans and her fellow housemates by being nominated for the first eviction since joining the Big Brother house.
And now she’s being chastised for her ‘derogatory’ remark.
A prank by Olivia and Jenkin resulted in the discovery of Kerry’s luxurious mattress, to which she responded, ‘F**king hell, now I have a f**king wet pillow, what a t**t.’
She then said: ‘This is gay.’
Viewers have called out her use of the slur after the video was shared online, with one saying: ‘I genuinely haven’t heard someone use that expression in about 10 years, shockingly awful and outdated. Actually even surprised Kerry would say it on TV.’
Another wrote on Reddit: ‘I hope she gets reprimanded for that.’
We understand that Kerry was reminded of her respect and inclusion training ahead of the series, and apologised for any offence.
A spokesperson for Big Brother told us: ‘Kerry was brought to the diary room to discuss her inappropriate use of language.
‘Big Brother reminded Kerry of her respect and inclusion training prior to entering the House and the consequences of any further use of offensive language.
‘Kerry understood and apologised for any offense caused.’
Other fans have jumped in to defend Kerry, with one writing on X: ‘I don’t think she meant to say it or even cause offence but glad she got warned by bb and she apologised.’
Someone else said: ‘She shouldn’t be saying it but it wasn’t said with malicious intent. A word in the ear is all that’s needed.’
Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
