Fans erupted on Tuesday as Black Mirror returned to Twitter with a cryptic message implying that the programme will return shortly.
The hit sitcom stunned viewers on Tuesday by reactivating its presence on the social networking app after four years of silence.
The account of the Netflix series left expectant fans reeling as they penned: ‘What have we missed?’
Following their unexpected query, the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, 52, reacted with a puzzled face emoji.
With rumours swirling that season six of the dystopian sci-fi programme will premiere shortly, fans believed this social media reappearance may be the greatest indication yet that their wait will be over soon.
Netflix themselves were one of the first accounts to respond and they joked: ‘Season five of the show consisted of just three episodes though each of the episodes ran for over an hour.’

Fans were astounded and responded with expressions of surprise and requests for a release date from the producers.
One said: ‘We went though a whole pandemic and now y’all back just like that? [sic].’
Another urged: ‘Need some news on a new season sooooon [sic].’

Season five of the sitcom included a star-studded ensemble that includes Flowers singer Miley Cyrus, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie, That 70s Show actor Topher Grace, and Candyman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Little is known about the new season, although casting reports have suggested that Salma Hayek from Magic Mike’s Last Dance and Annie Murphy from Schitt’s Creek will be joining the popular franchise.
Rory Culkin, brother of Home Alone star Macaulay and Succession’s Kieran Culkin, may possibly participate in the project, According to Deadline.
Variety broke the news last May, claiming that the programme will be returning and that the new series would have more episodes than viewers had seen in previous years.
