Bobby Brazier has been identified as a possible victim of a new Strictly ‘curse’ could be ousted sooner than fans would want.
The 20-year-old EastEnders star has been a fairly regular performer on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing – and is undoubtedly a fan favourite – despite a pro already indicating that his days may be short.
On Saturday, he and his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell, 34, reached the halfway point of the competition when they were voted through after performing a sizzling Argentinian Tango to Sail by Awolnation and earning a score of 30.
Judge Anton Du Beke had a bit of a gripe with it, saying the performance was too prepared but added that it was hard to be critical since it was ‘absolutely clean as a whistle’, while Craig Revel Horwood claimed the performance was ‘too forceful’ and ‘choreographed’.
Shirley Ballas, on the other hand, disagreed with her other judges and thought it was’much better’ than their Cha-Cha-Cha last week.
On Monday’s It Takes Two, segment host OJ Borg, who was performing a deep dive with statistics, issued a caution when it was announced that Bobby and Dianne would be facing the American Smooth next weekend.
Despite the fact that the soap star had the lowest score of all the eight remaining contestants at 29, OJ said that the American Smooth was “the dance of doom.”
He then disclosed that four of the six couples who had previously danced it were eliminated the following week.
‘I played that music because it’s the dance of doom and I don’t mean me in a nightclub at 3am, I mean the fact that if we look at this here – Jodie and Jowita, Eddie and Karen, Zara and Graziano and Adam and Luba, the week after they have done the American Smooth, they have been eliminated,’ he shared.
However, Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu, as well as Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, have escaped this curse.
With Ellie and Vito topping the scoreboard for the second week in a row and earning the series’ joint-highest score of 39, OJ said that it would be a “Strictly shock” if they went out a week after completing the American Smooth.
According to the statistics, Bobby and Dianne had the highest scoring Samba of the series thus far, with the famously difficult Latin dance only averaging just over 25 points thus far, compared to their score of 32.
OJ also computed each couple’s total amount of points so far, which revealed that Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin have the most with 241, while Ellie and Vito are close behind with 235.
Bobby and Dianne are in third place with 212 points, and despite Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington being only one point behind them, OJ identified them as the likely three finalist couples.
Angela and Kai were the only ones to make it through the dance-off with Adam and Luba on Sunday.
Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6:05pm on Saturday on BBC One, with It Takes Two airing weeknights from 6:30pm on BBC Two.
