Boy George has revealed who his ‘dream’ campmate would be ahead of the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The music icon will venture into the Australian jungle alongside the likes of Mike Tindall, Sue Cleaver, and Chris Moyles, as Ant and Dec return Down Under for the popular ITV reality show.
With some big names in the camp this year – including England Lioness Jill Scott – there are bound to be big personalities too, but there’s one person George would love to see enter the Aussie camp.
‘It would be funny if my ex, Jon Moss, comes on the programme,’ he said when quizzed on who his dream camper would be.
‘But I don’t think that will happen!’
The reason why it probably wouldn’t happen is that the former couple – who dated in the 1980s but kept their romance a secret – were embroiled in a legal battle.
Culture Club drummer Jon accused his ex-lover in March this year of plotting to defraud him of £188,000.
Jon – who left Culture Club in 2021 – began the legal challenge after he was allegedly ‘expelled’ by their manager in September 2018, following 37 years of ‘service’ to the group.
The star argued that he was owed an ‘outstanding balance’ of £188,000 under the terms of a band agreement reached over the operation of its 2018 Life Tour.
Issuing a statement in response earlier this year, George said: ‘My former band member Jon Moss has made the most unfounded and hurtful allegations against me in legal proceedings in the UK.
‘Needless to say, his allegations that I conspired to defraud him are entirely untrue.’
So, let’s just hope Jon isn’t a surprise late entry this series!
Elsewhere, George is pretty much raring to go in the jungle, although taking part wasn’t an easy decision to make.
George – whose real name is George Alan O’Dowd – said: ‘I watch I’m A Celebrity every year and I had to think long and hard about this. But I feel like I am in a very fertile creative moment in my life. I am in a moment of rediscovery of who I am as a person, artist and older man and I feel like I do make a lot of effort to be in pop culture’
He added: ‘I am bored of being iconic in the corner and if you want to compete in the world then being part of telly is part of that. This is the biggest show on TV and that is why I am doing it.
‘And now I have made the decision, I don’t want to focus too much on what the experience might be like, but my intention is it is going to be amazing. It’s three weeks without make-up and three weeks is nothing. I have just done seven weeks on tour!’
It remains to be seen how the singer will get on with the Bushtucker trials, although he’s already admitted he’s going to miss his home comforts.
‘I do know I will miss my phone, espressos, goat’s cheese and feta cheese while I am away,’ he confessed.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV on November 5.
