Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney Spears‘ sister, is apparently auditioning for I’m A Celebrity and might be joining Nigel Farage in the jungle.
The Zoey 101 singer is the younger sister of the Toxic hitmaker, and she just appeared on another reality show, Dancing With The Stars.
However, it has recently been reported that she is following in the footsteps of Matt Hancock and Caitlyn Jenner by competing in Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s bushtucker trials.
According to a source, the 32-year-old will go to Australia for the programme. ‘Jamie Lynn has decades of history and bad blood with Britney to dig over and has spelled out her emotions very plainly in her own book,’ she says.
The insider added to The Mirror: ‘It will be interesting to hear her spill the beans about her life and her family and the controversial conservatorship – and to find out whether the sisters really do get along now – or not.’
Jamie Lynn and Britney, 41, have had a turbulent relationship over recent years, with the Sweet Magnolias star recently saying: ‘Growing up, my sister became famous — worldwide famous — when I was very young.
‘It just feels like every time I work really hard to get something on my own, it’s not really worth it.’
Jamie then noted: ‘I’m so proud of her, love her to death, but I don’t know. Sometimes I feel like I don’t really have anything for myself.’
Not long later, after her divorce from Sam Asghari, Britney seemed to take aim at Jamie’s comments, writing: ‘In Mexico now! When your sister says “I love her to DEATH”… you learn to start living!’
Their poor relationship emerged in the news after Britney was released from a 13-year conservatorship in 2021, which she constantly blamed on her family for failing to protect her.
Jamie Lynn encountered Britney’s anger last year when marketing her book Things I Never Said, which detailed her relationship with her elder sister.
The popstar’s lawyer handed her a cease and desist letter accusing her of speaking ‘derogatorily’ about her sister after she was asked in an interview about a passage of the book that characterised Britney as ‘erratic,’ ‘paranoid,’ and’spiralling.’
In recent weeks, it was reported that Britney was dissatisfied with Jamie Lynn’s experience on Dancing With The Stars, which saw her become the second participant eliminated.
Following her exit, she sent a loving message to her dance partner Alan, thanking him for his help during the competition, and adding: ‘I got to raise some money for my #SAGAFTRA community and meet some of the most amazing ppl, and That’s a win by all accounts in what I set out to do. Softball moms are hot.
‘Yalllllll, I promise I hear and see all the many wonderfully passionate ppl who are not happy with the way things fell tonight, and I appreciate the tremendous amount love and support, but this was an amazing experience, and I’m very happy to have been apart of it, and soooo excited to see all the fabulous contestants and their partners continue to KILL it each week!!!!! [sic].’
Jamie Lynn previously explained why she was competing on DWTS and stated that she would donate her pay to Sag-Aftra and the WGA during the ongoing strikes.
‘I don’t know if one could ever be 100% ready to take on something this big,’ the mum-of-two said during an appearance on Good Morning America.
‘I didn’t realize what a commitment it is but it definitely is. I’m ready to challenge myself and also, being able to do it for a reason that means a lot to me.
‘While everybody in my community is on strike in Sag, I have this unique opportunity where I was offered a chance to work when my community cannot work.
‘So I figured I’ll do this and I will donate my weekly salary to Sag and WGA, to just give back to them at a time where they can’t give back to themselves.’
When approached for comment about the I’m A Celebrity claims, an ITV spokesperson said: ‘Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity are just speculation. We’ll announce our line up in due course.’
I’m A Celebrity returns on Sunday, November 19 at 9pm on ITV1.
