I’m a Famous Person South Africa has arrived, bringing with it a strong lineup of famous campmates returning for another season in the jungle.
The ITV programme, dubbed a ‘All Stars’ season, will welcome back Janice Dickinson, Shaun Ryder, Amir Khan, Carol Vorderman, and many more as the cast competes to become the first ever I’m A Celebrity legend.
With a premiere date of Monday (April 24) at 9 p.m., it won’t be long until Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are back on our televisions putting celebrities through some truly gruelling trials for the sake of entertainment.
But, considering that this is the inaugural I’m A Celebrity South Africa, rather than the normal Australian jungle, it’s fair that some are sceptical about how it will function.
There is one significant difference this time around…
Can you vote in I’m A Celeb South Africa?
Aside from the line-up, the major distinction between I’m A Celebrity South Africa and the normal season is that the public does not vote.
In prior seasons, campmates compete in Bushtucker Trials to earn food for camp, with the audience determining who wins.
When the vote-offs begin, it’s once again the power of the viewers at home, as the campmates with the fewest votes must depart before the audience can choose a winner.
This time, though, the celebrities are fighting against each other rather than for public votes.
I’m A Celebrity South Africa was pre-shot over a month in Kruger National Park last year.
Instead, the stars will compete in Bushtucker Trials, with the losers booted from camp.
How will the winner be decided?
The first I’m A Celebrity legend will simply be the one who perseveres.
As a result, the goal is to win as many trials as possible.
Ant and Dec already described the shocking revelation to ITV’s Lorraine Kelly.
‘It’s slightly different to the show we do in Australia because they go head-to-head in trials and whoever loses leaves,’ Ant said.
‘It’s quite brutal, so that’s how we decided the winner.’
Dec added: ‘So, they’re competing to become the first ever I’m A Celebrity Legend of the Savanna. It’s very special.’
So, will Olympian Fatima Whitbread come out on top? Will Corrie’s Helen Flanagan conquer her fears and surprise everyone this time around? Or will a surprise late arrival take the crown? We can’t wait to find out…
I’m A Celebrity South Africa begins Monday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
