Carol McGiffin was surprised to wake up this morning with a red rash over her face.
The Loose Women actress looked make-up-free on Thursday’s episode and soon revealed why.
She strode out onto the stage, looking casual as she made her way to the desk.
As Kaye Adams went through the topics they’d be covering on the programme, she turned to her co-host and inquired about the ‘drama’ she’d been experiencing.
‘I have, yes, something has happened to my face,’ Carol shared.
‘It actually looks like I’ve had some sort of cosmetic procedure and I’ve not told anybody, but I haven’t,’ she added.
‘I just woke up and my face looked like a tomato. A seriously red face and itchy, so I have no make-up on because I thought if I did, it would make it worse.’

Kaye rushed in to assuage some of her fears, saying it looked ‘better than this morning’.
‘It’s not pleasant, but I’m fine to have no make-up on because I’m not a big make-up fan anyway, but I’m not a fan of look, look, look,’ Carol said while gesturing to her face.
Kaye then comforted Carol by saying they were delighted she was still able to join the performance and that she will be ‘fine and dandy shortly’.
‘The show must go on,’ Carol added.
Carol later clarified that she hadn’t spent too much time in the sun, despite people’s advice that she merely needed some sunscreen.
‘Some people think it’s sunburn and it’s not,’ she said.

Carol had a ‘face full of fillers’ on an episode last year, so this wasn’t the first time she wore an unusual appearance on the panel.
Carol used an Instagram face filter to test how her face would morph while discussing non-surgical cosmetic procedures like as lip fillers, amid calls from Lawmakers for tougher industry oversight. She conceded the image was ‘disturbing’.
She has, however, been candid about having a facelift in the past, stating that she had it to help recover possession of herself, admitting: ‘I did it to make myself feel better.’
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
