Carol Vorderman has admitted that she ‘shouts obscenities at the TV’ every time she sees Matt Hancock turn up on I’m A Celebrity 2022, expressing how ‘irate’ she feels over him being on the show.
Ever since it was announced that the former health secretary would be entering the jungle, the decision has sparked backlash across the nation, especially considering he is still a sitting MP.
Several high-profile figures have also shared their opposition to Hancock joining the cast, including Vorderman, who took part in 2016.
While speaking to Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond and Gyles Brandreth on Friday’s This Morning, Vorderman explained that taking part in I’m A Celebrity was ‘the best thing I’ve ever done’, adding: ‘It’s the best show on television in my view.’
However, while watching this year’s series, she’s becoming ‘more and more irate at the fact that [Hancock] is in there’.
‘So I think viewers are split. I’m part of those who are starting to shout things at the telly,’ she revealed.
‘I think it’s divisive. I’m not warming to him at all. Every time he’s on the screen, I’m shouting obscenities at the television. I can’t forget the lies, I can’t forget the rule-breaking.’
Hancock previously resigned from his post as health secretary after breaking the social distancing rules in place at the time, when he was caught kissing his married aide Gina Coladangelo in CCTV footage.
He opened up about the affair on last night’s episode, telling comedian Babatúndé Aléshé that he ‘fell in love’.
Vorderman remarked that she reckons it’s ‘very difficult’ for the celebrities in camp having to deal with Hancock joining their camp.
Hammond questioned if perhaps it feels different because Hancock has ‘directly impacted all of our lives’.
Meanwhile, O’Leary brought up the questionable answer Hancock gave when asked for his reasons for joining the reality show, when he claimed he wanted to show the public that politicians are ‘normal’ and ‘human beings’.
The presenter stated that perhaps Hancock should simply admit that his reputation needs a boost and that he’s receiving a hefty paycheck to be there.
Last night, Hancock took part in his second Bushtucker Trial, winning a full house of 11 stars for camp after the Tentacles of Terror challenge.
Tonight, he and Boy George will be taking on the first eating challenge of the series to try to win more meals for camp.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV. I’m A Celebrity returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
