Chris Packham has said that he was ‘concerned’ about being ‘ruthlessly critical’ on Celebrity Gogglebox.
The 62-year-old Springwatch star appeared with his stepdaughter Megan McCubbin on the popular Channel 4 show, which also features Katherine Ryan and Rylan Clark.
He was concerned, though, about what the cameras may hear him say in his new capacity as a TV couch reviewer.
Chris stated that his stepdaughter was a “big fan” of Gogglebox and that he watched it “from time to time.”
He went on: ‘I was more worried about the fact that they film it in a way where there’s no one in the room, you’re there with just some cameras and I do let rip at things.
‘I do say, in the comfort of my own home, I’m ruthlessly critical of whatever we’re watching.’
Chris also spoke about watching one particular programme on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Is It Cake?
He said: ‘I love artistry, I admire people who hone their skills, it completely transcends baking of course.
‘I have a sneaking admiration for that, but at the same time, I’m asking why? There’s a lot of skills you can master in life, that’s a strange one to choose.
‘But nevertheless I have a sneaking admiration for people who can make a cake truly look like anything.’
Despite concerns over his criticism, the wildlife expert won over Gogglebox fans, with one saying: ‘I have just discovered Chris Packham on Gogglebox and it is perfection.’
Another said: ‘Chris Packham on every episode of Gogglebox from now on please.’
‘1st episode of @Channel4#gogglebox and I’m in love with Chris Packham already,’ someone else wrote.
Celebrity Gogglebox airs tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
