Clarkson’s Farm has been renewed for a fourth season by Amazon, after its future was called into question due to Jeremy Clarkson’s slanderous statements against Meghan Markle.
At the TV business conference Content London, held today in venues in King’s Cross, the streaming platform’s director of unscripted in the UK, Fozia Khan, said another series was in the works.
According to Deadline, season 4 will begin shooting’very soon,’ while season 3 has concluded and will release on Prime Video next year.
The renewal comes after Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May allegedly opted to leave The Grand Tour, another Amazon series.
After departing Top Gear in 2016, they began the programme in 2016, and it has now been revealed that they have taped their final episode together in Zimbabwe, which will air in February 2024.
However, options for a new The Grand Tour are being considered, however no ideas have yet to be approved.
A source told The Sun: ‘The guys have made no bones about the fact they’re all advancing in years and they have lots of other projects to pursue.
‘They just felt like the time was right and wanted to go out on a high when the show remained popular.’
The BBC just put its first home Top Gear to’rest’ following a horrific crash involving new host Freddie Flintoff.
Earlier this month, the BBC confirmed in a statement that the TV programme had been taken off air ‘for the foreseeable future’, given the ‘exceptional circumstances’.
The broadcaster added: ‘We know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do.’
Clarkson’s Farm was said to be renewed after it was claimed that Amazon and Clarkson, 63, had initiated discussions after the streamer reportedly ‘broke relations’ with the broadcaster following his comments about the Duchess of Sussex, 42.
Clarkson eventually apologised for the item, which became the most complained about in Ipso history and was deemed’sexist’ by the press regulator in a landmark judgement.
The incident did not appear to have an impact on Clarkson’s Farm viewership ratings.
Since the ratings organisation began collecting statistics for major streaming services, it has been Amazon’s most-watched original programme in the UK.
To the joy of his followers, his fiancée Lisa Hogan intimated in recent months that season 4 was in the works.
Clarkson’s property premiered in June 2021 and follows Clarkson’s bumbling foray into agriculture as he learns to run his Chipping Norton property Diddly Squat.
Clarkson’s Farm is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
