Another soap actor may be putting his deepest fears to the test in the jungle, with Alan Halsall of Coronation Street believed to be in discussions for I’m A Celebrity… I need to get out of here! 2023.
Bushtucker Trials is no stranger to EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks legends, with Owen Warner finishing as last year’s runner-up and Danny Miller being elected King of the Castle in 2021.
Alan, 40, has been in Corrie since 1998, playing mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, the grandson of Evelyn Plummer, played by Maureen Lipman.
Last month, the actor shared images from a family trip to Disney World in Florida on Instagram, including one with Monsters Inc.’s Sully and his daughter Sienna-Rae.
If he gets a deal to go to Australia for the ITV programme, he may be heading even further away in just a few months.
‘Tyrone is one of Corrie’s most-loved characters so Alan comes with a ready-made fan base,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Sometimes soap actors who are known for their iconic roles don’t quite translate once in camp – Adam Woodyatt being one recent example.
‘But Alan is a top lad with bags of personality so ITV are over the moon he’s in talks to join their 2023 cast.’
The insider added that Alan ‘easily ticks the soap hunk box’.
The names offered for I’m A Celebrity are presently speculative, according to ITV, with the actual cast line-up due to be released later this year.
Alan was formerly married to Lucy-Jo Hudson, a former Coronation Street actress who played in the serial from 2002 until 2005.
The pair married in 2009 and had their first child four years later. In 2018, they divorced.
The actor is currently married to Tisha Merry, who portrayed Steph Britton in Corrie from 2013 to 2018. In 2019, the pair made their romance public.
Alan isn’t the only celebrity rumoured to be interested in appearing on I’m A Celebrity, with This Morning’s Josie Gibson also in discussions for a £100,000 compensation.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Will return later this year on ITV1 and ITVX.
