WWE fans are eager to see Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson return to the ring, and new merchandise has given everyone reason to be optimistic.
The People’s Champion, who has become one of the world’s top movie stars after leaving wrestling for Hollywood, hasn’t appeared live for the WWE in almost three years, but a return for the Royal Rumble is rumoured.
There have been numerous rumours that The Rock may make a comeback to compete for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against his cousin Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, and things are heating up.
Fans with keen eyes have seen what appears to be new goods on WWE’s official online store, and the timing is thought to be highly fascinating given all the conjecture.
Others noticed a new t-shirt being promoted for the Royal Rumble superstore, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas next weekend.
The tattoo portrays a pair of longhorns, which fans immediately associated with The Rock due to his tattoo and subsequent Brahma Bull moniker – though there’s also the Texas link.
Still, it has fans speculating if he will appear in his first Royal Rumble fight since 2001.
Nothing has been confirmed, but The Rock could appear on the upcoming broadcast of Monday Night Raw after The Bloodline announced a ‘acknowledgement ceremony’ in honour of Roman Reigns.
Dwayne’s cousin is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, and his family has pledged that ‘every generation’ of the Bloodline will be represented at Raw XXX, which is also the show’s 30th anniversary.
Fans are more enthused about the thought of Rock – a certain member of the family – appearing to confront Roman, which might set the stage for a potentially historic match.
‘Every generation of the lineage,’ they claimed. ‘Rock is part of the bloodline,’ one viewer pointed out, while another inquired, ‘Every generation of the Bloodline next week? ‘Is Rock going to RAW XXX?’
Also in this month, a poster for the Royal Rumble, which takes place on January 28th, got everyone talking.
The image is making the rounds on social media, and many believe the lightning bolts are there to taunt The Rock, whose moniker is The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment.
The imagery clearly matches, prompting speculation that Dwayne could arrive at the Rumble – or possibly compete in the historic 30-man fight – and confront his cousin.
WWE Raw XXX airs Monday night (January 23) at 1am on BT Sport 1. The Royal Rumble airs January 28, also at 1am, on the WWE Network.
