Courteney Cox is a lot more like Monica Geller, her unstable Friends character, than she’d like to acknowledge.
Monica was a known neat freak who possessed a vacuum to hoover her hoover and suffered from insomnia due to the dread of a crumb.
She did, however, have a profound and dark secret: buried away in her otherwise impeccable home was a cupboard, and not just any cupboard, but a’messy’ cupboard.
Courteney, 59, took her Instagram followers on a tour of her dining room on Sunday and ‘accidentally’ disclosed that she had a ‘secret’ messy cupboard as well.
Courteney wanted to proudly show off her freshly remodelled dining area, and she was joined behind the camera by her creative team director Max Godrich.
Max halted the actress in her tracks as she headed down the stairs after discovering a door that was slightly ajar.
‘Oh wait. What’s in here?’ he asked, exposing the filthy closet.
Panicked, Courteney leapt in front of the door and shrieked: ‘Nothing! Max, nothing. Please, Max, stop! That’s not funny. Seriously, don’t film it.’
The camera turned black as she slammed the door shut, and just the audio could be heard, with Courteney pleading, ‘Erase the footage now, okay?’
Regardless, the secret is now public.
Jennifer Aniston, her Friends co-star and true closest friend, was among the hundreds who liked the photo, which Courteney wrote, ‘Come on…we all have one.’
In addition to acting in and producing her spooky series Shining Vale, Courteney has developed her own line of cleaning products inspired by TV’s most neurotic cleaner, Monica.
Friends is available to stream on Netflix now.
