Courteney Cox has acknowledged that she scarcely recalls the plots of the first two Scream flicks.
The Friends actress plays Gale Weathers in all six Wes Craven slashers, beginning with the first in 1996 and ending with Scream VI this year.
And, while she, like almost everyone else, enjoys the franchise, she acknowledges it becomes a little confused in the middle.
Courteney was chatting about the next installment of the franchise with co-stars Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday when she made the remarks.
‘You expect her not to behave in a manner that she should,’ Courteney said of her character, the daring and feisty Gale.
‘She’s got a heart, much more in these last films – although I don’t remember 3 and 4.’
‘That much,’ she said after a little pause.
After airing the pre-recorded interview tape, Richard stated that she’may not remember 3 and 4, but they were great.’
Courteney earlier exclaimed that she had ‘never seen more stabbings’ than in the sixth Scream film, as Gale became a ‘target’ for Ghostface after beating him in every film since the beginning.
She also praised the film’s filmmakers, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who took over for the late Wes Craven.
‘They just keep elevating it… They amped it up in every way,’ she continued to Entertainment Tonight. ‘The writers are incredible and it’s so scary.
‘There are more stabbings per person than I’ve ever seen. And they found some new places to get stabbed.
‘I don’t know how Ghostface’s arm didn’t fall off.
‘I’ve never seen more stabbings… It was unbelievable.’
