Dan Walker is on the mend following his tragic car accident.
The Channel 5 newsreader was knocked off his bike and transported into an ambulance early Monday morning.
Dan, 45, kept his followers informed throughout the week, claiming he was “happy to be alive” after the trauma.
Today, the former BBC Breakfast anchor says he’s ‘on the mend’ following a week he couldn’t have predicted.
Dan rushed to Twitter to share photographs of his facial injuries, including bruises and scratches.
Dan took the first selfie while in the ambulance, blood pouring from his nose and all over his white shirt.
Dan’s second selfie revealed a black eye and a swollen lip; by the third, the redness had gone slightly but he was still in horrible shape.
Dan’s purple bruises had faded significantly by the fourth shot, and his cracked lip was no longer as puffy.
He could also grin a little more after a really difficult few days!
‘Not quite the week I had planned, but I’m on the mend,’ the former Strictly Come Dancing participant wrote in his post.
‘I’m very grateful for all your kind messages & for my family & lovely friends. I’m also thankful for the paramedics, the police & the people who looked after me in A & E.’
Although being significantly better off than he was at the outset of the week, Dan admitted to having tooth problems.
‘Are your teeth alright Dan?’, asked on concerned follower.
‘Getting them checked next week I hope. They ache’, he replied.
Another asked if his injuries still ‘hurt’, to which he said: ‘Yes.’
Dan previously stated that he blacked out after being thrown from his bike and has no recollection of the incident.
He went on to say that the helmet he was wearing’saved his life,’ and that he was eager to silence trolls who tried to lecture him.
‘It’s odd to get lectured by people telling me that bike helmets aren’t important when the emergency services at the scene yesterday told me I probably wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t wearing one’, he said earlier this week after returning home.
‘Crazy old world!’ said he.
