Dan Walker believes Helen Skelton should have won Strictly Come Dancing instead of Hamza Yassin.
Strictly’s new cast is increasingly being unveiled, but Dan is still worried about the 2022 results.
BBC wildlife cameraman Hamza and his professional partner Jowita Przystal won the most recent season. Dan, 46, believes it should have been presenter Helen, 40, who lifted the glitterball award.
‘As a really good friend of hers, watching the way that she danced with Gorka [Marquez] and the way that she developed – I still think she was robbed!’
He added to OK!: ‘Hamza and Jowita seem lovely but Helen, she’s the people’s champion’.
Dan, who chatted with the newspaper to promote their new Channel 5 programme Dan & Helen’s Pennine Adventure, also claimed that he offered her a lot of guidance before she hit the dance floor.

He was on Strictly in 2021 with Nadiya Bychkova, and the duo advanced to the quarter-finals, so he was well-equipped to provide information.
‘I gave her a really clear picture of what she would have to go through,’ he recalled.
‘And I said, if it works, it will be amazing but it can be a really difficult experience.’

Luckily, Helen enjoyed taking part in the BBC dancing show and made it all the way to the final. Dan added: ‘I think it helped her to get through last year as well’.
Helen divorced her husband Richie Myler two months before auditioning for Strictly.
She said at the time: ‘Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home.
‘We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.’
