Just minutes into the new season of Dancing On Ice, Christopher Dean made an unintentional joke about his co-judge Jayne Torvill, which had viewers in stitches.
On Sunday, hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield opened the new series of the ITV skating competition, which will feature Love Island‘s Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Towie’s Joey Essex, and footballer John Fashanu.
Following a colourful opening number by the professional skaters, reality sensation Joey was the first celebrity to take the rink with his professional partner Vanessa Bauer.
When it came time to get input from the judges, though, Christopher stepped right into a delightfully awkward gaffe.
Phillip switched his focus to the judge’s damaged finger, which was wrapped in a dazzling bandage to match his suit, before criticising Joey’s performance.
Explaining what happened, Christopher began: ‘Jayne was squeezing my hard in the lift,’ before realising his unfortunate choice of words and stuttering.

Phillip, Holly and the rest of the judging panel, which also features Jayne, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse, didn’t hesitate to burst into laughter, while Joey looked a little confused seemingly missing the blunder.
‘I wish i hadn’t asked now,’ Phillip joked, while Christopher attempted to gloss over his mistake, adding: ‘I fell over in a darkened room.’
Holly quipped: ‘I prefer the first story,’ to which Christopher replied: ‘Maybe i’ll stick with that.’
Viewers were highly amused by the whole situation, with one commenting: ‘Jane was squeezing off Chris in a lift What a start to #DancingOnIce.’
‘Chris trying to be all serious after saying Jayne squeezed his hard in the lift… I can’t,’ another laughed.
‘After that explanation difficult to take Chris seriously now,’ one agreed.
Sharing others’ disbelief at Chris’ revelation, one viewer said: ‘I just had to watch that back 5 times! Jane squeezed Chris’s hard on in a lift apparently!’
Dancing On Ice continues on ITV1.
