Denise Van Outen has confessed that she has no problem wandering around nude in front of her adolescent daughter.
With her ex-husband, actor Lee Mead, she has a 13-year-old daughter Betsy.
While most mothers would be hesitant to expose their children to starkers, Denise has stated that she does not mind.
During a conversation about parents being nude in front of their children on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Tuesday, the former Strictly Come Dancing star opted to bare all (figuratively).
The former Big Breakfast host admits to being naked in front of her kid on a frequent basis.
‘I do walk around naked at home in front of my daughter, there’s only the two of us in the house, and I always have done,’ she said.
‘Sometimes I walk in the shower and she’s like “mum, please put some clothes on!” but I don’t know when the cut-off point would be, she’s 13 now, but I just do.
‘When I grew up, my family were all very like everybody was hiding everything and I just wanted to be a little bit more open and especially about the female form.’
She added: ‘I want her to feel confident, and also to see their imperfections as well, which I think is really important for girls to see and understand that they’re just normal.’
Speaking about her ‘ageing’ body, Denise said that when ‘everything starts to go a little bit grey’ she’ll ‘stop’, but until then she was ‘just going to let it all out and be free’.
She then said that being naked helped her break down certain obstacles.
‘I have some of my real heart to heart chats with Betsy when we’re in that environment because you’re bare aren’t you?,’ she said.
‘She’ll come in and sit on the toilet when I’m having a shower and we’ll have a chat. I think it’s so important for them to understand as well, especially me as a mother to a daughter, about the female form.
‘I’ve got scars and things from operations; we chat about it just to see that there are imperfections and things to accept about your body. I think it’s important.’
Gorka Marquez, who is presently expecting his second kid with partner actress Gemma Atkinson, also appeared on the show.
During the conversation, he also stated that the pair had no difficulty being nude in front of their three-year-old daughter, Mia.
‘In our house it’s a good thing to be open and comfortable being naked because it shows your kids how to be confident in themselves, in their own skin, it’s a natural thing,’ he explained.
Denise revealed publicly last year about her new connection with 55-year-old property entrepreneur Jimmy Barba, whom she first wanted to keep private.
The announcement of their affair came shortly after she ended her seven-year relationship with Eddie Boxshall.
Denise also stated on Steph’s Packed Lunch in November that when they initially started dating, they had to’stay indoors for much of our early dates’ in order to get to know each other.
She joked that on their first public date, they “let free and went crazy.”
