A sequence in the new Disney Plus original series Extraordinary featuring a dog and a strip club nearly didn’t make the final cut, as the cast explains.
Carry on, we are listening!
Starring Máiréad Tyers, Sofia Oxenham, and Derry Girls icon Siobhan McSweeney, this supernatural comedy tells the story of Jen, a 25-year-old who badly wants a superpower so that she can join in with her magical friends.
In an interview before the show’s premiere, Máiréad, (Jen) Sofia, (Carrie), Bilal Hasna (Kash), and Luke Rollason (Jizzlord) discussed a montage that caused some debate among the writers.
In one episode, the characters make a whim to take their dog Bear out for the day, but the writers and directors can’t decide where to go.
That one sequence kept shifting. Therefore, in the final draught, a dog is brought to a strip joint. ‘It was almost like a montage,’ actor Luke added.

‘The writer would write something, and the team would get it back and be like “okay so theme park… interesting, that might be quite expensive,”‘ he added.
‘And they kept going back and forth. It was meant to be the dog’s dream of a perfect day out, at one point we had a meat fight, and I was like ‘it’s not going to stay in is it “‘
He continued: ‘Then it was back to strip club again, and that was actually my favourite day of filming was the strip club day.’
Sounds like a lots of fun!

“Adrift in a large, confusing world with nothing but a touch of optimism, a lot of desperation, and her flatmates,” states the official synopsis for the series. “Jen begins her adventure to uncover her maybe-superpower.”
To give some background, Jen lives in a world where one person can instantly change their hair colour, another can reverse the passage of time, and even the animals have special abilities… as well as poor Jen not even having that.
Yet, will Jen learn that her uniqueness provides her with a distinct advantage?
