Before their imminent debut on the BBC sci-fi show, a Doctor Who star has been making substantial money.
Ncuti Gatwa, 30, was named Jodie Whittaker’s successor last year and is valued over £1,000,000.
According to Companies House, the Barbie actor’s firm Gemini Moon Limited has £915,673 cash at the bank and an extra £39,313 arriving from debtors.
It’s no wonder that Ncuti has been earning a lot of money, since he’s quickly becoming one of the most intriguing sensations on television.
Sex Education, in which he plays Otis’ (Asa Butterfield) closest friend Eric, was his breakout role, winning him numerous Bafta nods for best male comedic performance.
The Stonemouth actor was then cast by director Greta Gerwig in Barbie, the summer blockbuster starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
But Whovians are most excited to see Ncuti as the fifteenth Time Lord on BBC One later this year, with Millie Gibson as the doctor’s companion.
He claimed at the time that he was “truly honoured, beyond delighted, and a little bit afraid” to be cast, but that he would “manage the extraordinary duty and honour with the utmost care.”
However, in an interview with Rolling Stone UK, Ncuti revealed that he wasn’t a huge fan of the programme, but before auditioning for the job, he opted to watch every single episode since the show’s 2005 resurrection, and as a result, he became a die-hard Whovian.
‘I fell in love with it. When you watch it, you forget all your troubles,’ he shared.
‘You go to space, or to another time. You have adventures.’
He also stated that his version of the character would be “emotionally fragile,” and that while he covered such attributes with comedy, he was “lonely.”
Ncuti got the distinction of being named the most powerful person on British television earlier this year.
He topped the RadioTimes.com TV 100 power list, a designation he described as “wonderful.”
Doctor Who will premiere exclusively on the BBC in the UK and Ireland and on Disney Plus internationally.
