Warning: spoilers ahead for The Last of Us episode 6.
The sixth episode of The Last of Us included a touching family reunion, strained relationships, and life-threatening stakes, and the program’s conclusion kept viewers on the edge of their seats.
In the most recent episode of the television series that is based on the video game with the same name, which was broadcast on Monday in the UK, the character of Joel (Pedro Pascal) finally caught up with his brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna). This occurred when Joel and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) made their way to his brother’s settlement in Wyoming.
Once the smuggler acknowledges that he does not believe that he is physically or psychologically capable of keeping Ellie safe, Joel and Ellie get into a furious confrontation with one another… Yet after getting back on track with their objective to deliver Ellie to the Fireflies in the hope that her immunity to Cordyceps may aid find a cure, Joel suffers a serious injury. This occurs after they had just gotten back on track with their mission.
Is it safe to assume that Joel has passed away in The Last of Us? If not, what happens to him in the game? If you haven’t experienced the game yet and want to prevent any potential spoilers, make a mental note of when to stop reading farther down the page. You have been given fair warning.
Is Joel dead in The Last of Us?
At the conclusion of the sixth episode of The Last of Us, Joel’s condition is severely critical.
Ellie and her friend try to flee the scene after an assailant stabs Joel in the lower abdomen. But, as they ride away, Joel, who is seriously weakened, falls off the horse and onto the ground.
Ellie is pleading with Joel to regain consciousness in the hopes that he would not pass away, but he is unable to do so due to the fact that he is physically unable to do so.
When the episode came to a close, many viewers were left wondering whether or not this would be the final chapter for Joel and whether or not he had indeed passed away.
The sneak peek for episode seven didn’t do much to allay their concerns because all it did was show impending flashback sequences of Ellie when she was at the Boston QZ Fedra school when she was growing up and her interactions with her buddy Riley (Storm Reid).
The drama has, to a large extent, remained loyal to the source material up to this point, despite the fact that there is always the possibility that the television programme might take a drastically different path than the video games and modify important plots.
Because Pedro has starred in more than six episodes of the series, it is quite possible that Joel will still be alive by the conclusion of episode six. According to Pedro’s IMDb profile, he has appeared in more than six episodes of the series… Therefore it would seem that he has a chance of making it through this.
In addition, Bella sent the following message on Twitter once it was revealed that The Last of Us had been given a second season order: “I’m taking a journey with my closest frienddddd.”
We are prepared to eat our hats if this does not suggest that Joel is still alive.

How does Joel die in The Last of Us video game?
In the first video game in the series, The Last of Us, Joel does not die; rather, he and Ellie both manage to stay alive.
And for the second part, well, that’s a whole other story.
Unfortunately for Joel, he is killed by a character in the game named Abby in the second portion of the game.
After establishing themselves as permanent residents in Tommy’s community in Jackson, Joel and his brother one day end up rescuing an unknown woman named Abby from a horde of infected.
It turns out that Abby is a former member of the Firefly organisation as well as a member of a radical group known as the Washington Liberation Front.
A cruel twist of fate led to the discovery that she harbours a personal grudge against Joel because he was the one who took the life of her father during the first part of the game. Joel was the one who saved Ellie from death at the hands of surgeons who wanted to try to use her immunity to create a vaccine, but doing so would have killed her.
Joel’s vindictive rescue effort resulted in the death of Abby’s father, who was the lead surgeon in charge of the surgery. Joel shot and killed him.
Abby uses a golf club to kill Joel in front of Ellie, who is unable to intervene in any way due to the severity of the situation.
