Cally Russell, a former Dragons’ Den contestant, returned to confront the investors with a new presentation eight years after going away empty-handed.
Cally was looking for a £75,000 investment from Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden for his shopping app, Mallzee, in 2015, but after some haggling and an offer from Peter, he ended up walking away.
But that didn’t deter him from trying again.
The hopeful began: ‘Peter and Deborah, I was back here in 2015. Sadly, we couldn’t do a deal that day but the business that we had then worked with some of the biggest fashion retailers in the UK.
‘Sadly, because of the pandemic we lost that business, but we looked at the fashion industry and the work we had done there, and we decided to make something that would be truly sustainable.’
‘Welcome back,’ Peter said, before thanking Cally for rejecting the offer.

The entrepreneur went on to discuss his new firm Unfolded, ‘a zero-waste fashion brand powered by communities’.
However, when requested for £75,000 for 2% of the company and delving into the specifics of the firm, the Dragons were not convinced.
‘You talk like everything’s perfect,’ Touker said, before launching a scathing grilling.
‘First of all, that collection, the hem looks like the waves of the Atlantic,’ he continued, adding: ‘You’ve lost a fortune.’
‘You told me you made a profit!’ Touker said, calling Cally’s business out.

‘I’m worried about his blood pressure,’ Sara joked, while Touker tried to get his head around Cally’s numbers.
‘You’re in cuckoo land,’ he fumed.
That didn’t stop him from making an offer, which Cally quickly declined, stating it would be ‘no fun’ for any of them following Touker’s poor offer.
And, once again, Cally left empty-handed as both Deborah and Peter withdrew during the discussions.
He vowed, though, that he would not return for a third round.
Dragons’ Den airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One.
