Despite being widely expected to arrive as a surprise guest during Sir Elton John’s historic Glastonbury performance, Dua Lipa did not appear.
On Sunday night, the 76-year-old Rocketman singer delivered his first and final gig at Worthy Farm with a magnificent two-hour set that included crowd-pleasers like Tiny Dancer, Your Song, and I’m Still Standing.
Sir Elton’s act was touted as his final UK performance before retiring from performing at the conclusion of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
While there were suspicions that Dua would be performing their duet Cold Hearts, the legendry singer was instead accompanied by Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, and vocalist Rina Sawayama.
When it came to Cold Hearts, Sir Elton didn’t mention Dua by name and instead asked the audience to perform her song.
‘The person I did this song with isn’t here, so I’m going to ask you to sing her part please and sing it loudly.,’ he said, introducing the track.
As a consequence, many fans were left wondering where Dua Lipa was and what she was doing instead of performing on the Pyramid Stage.
Dua herself disclosed on social media that she spent her Sunday cooking up a storm for her family and friends.
She posted photographs of a beautifully adorned dinner table while also verifying her presence with her younger sister, dancer Rina, and model Frances Phillips.
The 27-year-old shared photographs of a prawn and garlic dish and a burrata on a bed of roasted courgettes for an al fresco supper with her 88.4 million followers, revealing what was on the steamy summer menu.
Captioning one upload, she wrote: ‘cooking for my friends & fam’ alongside a love heart emoji.
Dua subsequently broke her silence on Sir Elton’s Glastonbury appearance by posting a clip of his Cold Hearts performance on her Instagram Story, along with a stream of heart hand emojis.
Sir Elton ended his Glastonbury performance with the well-known tune Rocketman.
‘I want to thank you all for dressing up in your costumes, your glasses and your outfits, it makes me feel so happy and so loved,’ he told the crowd.
‘I also want to thank you for 52 years of amazing love and loyalty that you’ve shown me. It’s been an incredible journey.
‘I’ve had the best time, I will never forget you, you’re in my head and my heart and my soul, you’ve been amazing.
‘You’ve been an incredible crowd tonight. I wish you love and health and happiness.’
