Eamonn Holmes has responded to suggestions that he is ‘gloating’ over Phillip Schofield‘s departure from This Morning with a cryptic remark.
The 63-year-old GB News broadcaster, who is married to Loose Women star Ruth Langsford, has been outspoken about Phillip Schofield and the supposed ‘fallout’ between the This Morning hosts.
After earlier referring to Phil and Holly Willoughby as “actors” and liking a social media article about “red flags,” Eamonn moved to Twitter to remark on a “good day” following Phil’s departure.
After days of speculation, the 61-year-old announced his departure from This Morning on Saturday, while ITV stated Holly, 41, will continue presenting with other members of the crew.
This comes after the two were alleged to be ‘barely communicating’ behind the scenes and that their romance had ‘cooled’.
Following Phil’s revelation that he would be quitting the programme after more than 20 years due to a’very tough last few days,’ Eamonn tweeted a sweet photo of himself with his granddaughter.
However it was the caption that sparked comments from his fanbase, as he wrote: ‘Pappa got a smacker, Thank u Emilia. All in all that rounded off what turned out to be a good day.’

Fans took to the comments to read between the lines, with one writing: ‘Savage.’
‘The comment very well worded,’ another wrote, while someone else laughed: ‘I’ll bet it was.’
One viewer however, hit out with: ‘Gloating is not classy.’
Eamonn then replied: ‘Please don’t have me outlining what’s really not classy.’
This comes after the host slammed into the This Morning scandal, claiming Phil had been “sacked.”
ITV has stated that the host has’stepped down,’ but his future on shows such as Dancing On Ice is unknown.
‘Oh please just stop this. He was sacked. All this nonsense of “I’ve decided to step down”. I’m sure you did – here’s your P45, now step down,’ Eamonn ranted.
‘Why do we propagate this language, “I’ve decided to step down”. And she says: “Oh, the couch will not be the same without him being there”. Well, she wanted him not there. So what is she moaning about the coach not feeling the same for?
‘They deserve each other I suppose.’
He later added: ‘Holly knows the truth, the story is with her. Let’s just stop this.’
Announcing his departure, Phil wrote at the time: ‘I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
‘Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
‘I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.’
He continued: ‘So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.
‘I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.’
Holly added in a statement: ‘It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.
‘The sofa won’t feel the same without him.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1
