Ekin-Su Culculoglu has brushed off worries about the yellow bean bag that is said to be “cursed.”
On the summer season of the reality dating show last year, the Islanders were afraid to sit on the chair because they thought it would bring trouble to anyone who did.
Explaining the theory at the time, Tash Ghouri said it was a ‘very proven fact’ that the bean bag ‘does bring drama every time someone sits on it’.
‘So obviously if you want to go sit on it, I wish you well, but you’ve basically brought it on yourself because the drama happens,’ she added.
At the time, Ekin-Su even blamed her fights with Davide Sanclimenti, who she went on to win the series with, on the bean bag.
But even though the couple, who are both 28, recently said they were breaking up, Ekin-Su is now taking back control and not letting the bean bag curse idea take hold.
This week, Ekin-Su shared on social media a video of the bean bag on the patio of the London apartment she used to share with Davide.
She captioned it: ‘Lol taking this bean bag everywhere don’t care.’
In the clip she was also heard saying: ‘I know it’s bad luck but this bean bag has been very iconic in my life and I’m not gonna get rid of it just because of bad luck.’
She added, “You’re coming with me wherever I go.”
After dating for just under a year, Davide and Ekin-Su broke up at the end of last month.
Tagging his ex, he began by saying that they were ‘no longer together’.
‘I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and wish her nothing but the best,’ he continued.
‘I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time I will continue to support Ekin in any way possible.’
Then, earlier this week, Ekin-Su made a statement in which she thanked everyone for their support messages.
After saying that she had spent “much-needed time away” with her family after the breakup, she said she was ready to “realign and get back to work.”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
