Elaine Paige was doing everything she could to keep her rumoured casting on this year’s The Masked Singer a secret.
Joel Dommett is back to host the wild and wacky series, with judges Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora, and Davina McCall attempting to figure out who’s behind the mask.
Several names have been floated as possible Knitting candidates, including Steps singer Claire Richards and musical theatre artist Samantha Barks.
Fans, on the other hand, have pointed fingers at the Memory hitmaker, as one of the hints suggests the individual is a ‘trained professional vocalist.’
On Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garrway couldn’t help but wonder if Elaine was engaged in the show.
When asked if the rumours were true, she replied: ‘Well I can’t can I? We don’t want to give the game away.’

She added: I can’t say anymore really, you better leave it there’
Nuff said!
Knitting costume wearers must be superhuman because costume designer Tim Simpson previously stated that the garment is the heaviest this year.
‘It’s probably bordering on about 20 kilos. It’s a heavy thing,’ he shared. ‘I think Knitting was the heaviest.’
What’s more, the amount of wool used to bring the costume to life was ‘just shy of 350 metres’.
He added: ‘Knitting was a casual suggestion by my partner Sarah – business partner and life partner. I think it was over a glass of wine, she said, “Why don’t we do a Knitting?” I was like, “What do you mean, a Knitting, just a bundle of wool?”’
‘I sort of sat down and doodled something up and went, “What, like this?” and she went, “Yep, go on, send it off.” So I then sent off that sketch to the producers, and I think Knitting’s fabulous. It’s really heavy.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV, and The Masked Singer returns on Saturday at 7pm.
