Emily in Paris might be rooted firmly in the most romantic city in the world, but Darren Star has revealed that they’ll be jetting off to the Eurovision Song Contest in season 4.
Season 3 dropped in full on Netflix on Wednesday, and left Emily (Lily Collins) in arguably even more strife than ever before, but while she is still stuck in a complicated love situation, her best friend Mindy (Ashley Park) is about to hit the big time in her career.
Throughout the latest run, the song that her love interest and bandmate Benoit (Kevin Dias) wrote for her in season 2 got plenty of plays, and it was eventually revealed that he entered it into the iconic song contest.
In the finale he told her that the song Mon Soleil had been accepted into the Eurovision Song Contest.
So, there’s understandably been some questions about whether the show will actually see the characters compete when the next season rolls around.
Now creator Star has confirmed there are plans in place to film part of next season at the contest.

‘I don’t know what the details of filming are but I think that our plan is to go to Eurovision next season, we’re all set up for it,’ Star said.
‘And I think we’ve got a deserving song. I love that song, Mon Soleil, I think it would be definitely a worthy entry,’ he added to Deadline.
However he hasn’t exactly clarified whether or not they’ll be filming at the actual real-life competition, which is due to be held in Liverpool in May.
While Star watched Will Ferrell’s 2020 movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga for inspiration for the storyline, he said his take on the competition would be more serious.
‘I actually watched it, I really enjoyed that movie, it had more of a comedic take on Eurovision than we would,’ he said.
‘I think we’d like to look at it maybe in a more straightforward way.
‘But this song has been a part of the show all last season, I think it just has its own life on the series.’
It won’t be the first time the series crosses over with Eurovision though.
Last season Soren Bregendal played Sylvie’s love interest, photographer Erik DeGroot.
The performer is also part of the pop group Lighthouse X, which represented Denmark in Eurovision 2016.
Emily in Paris is streaming on Netflix.
