Dannii Minogue has fueled speculation that she would compete in the Eurovision Song Contest next year.
Olly Alexander was announced as the United Kingdom’s representative in Malmo, Sweden, over the weekend, at the Strictly Come Dancing final.
The United Kingdom is now the favourite to win Eurovision for the first time in almost 25 years.
However, a social media post from pop sensation Dannii has fans wondering if she will also be performing in May.
The stage design for next year’s competition was announced on Tuesday, with a video suggesting what it might look like.
The official Eurovision Song Contest Facebook posted the photo with the caption: ‘Good folk of Europe and beyond…’ ‘Hej’ to the #Eurovision2024 stage!’
Soon after Dannii, 52, re-posted the video, adding: ‘The stage is set…and the countdown has begun!’
Unsurprisingly many people flooded her with questions about whether this was an indication she would somehow be involved next year.
‘Wait…WHAT’S HAPPENING,’ one fan commented on the X post.
‘Omg. Are you going to be on that big stage,’ someone else shared.
Another added: ‘Oh…please let it be true.’
Meanwhile another fan asked: ‘Dannii are you saying what I think you’re saying?’
Not much was done to dispel the rumours, with the official Eurovision page then sharing a video of Dannii from the music video for 2003 hit I Begin to Wonder and added: ‘I…begin to wonder’ alongside a smirking face emoji.
Rylan Clarke then weighed in, posting: ‘Don’t do this to me.’
As another fan said: ‘If you’re playing with my feelings, I will hurt you Eurovision!’
There was shortly further discussion about what was going on, with one guy offering some suggestions.
‘Three theories here. 1. Dannii is representing AU. 2. Since she was Dami Im’s coach on X Factor, maybe she helped Dami choose a song. 3. Australia Decides returns and Dannii hosts,’ they shared.
Dami Im won the fifth season of The X Factor Australia in 2013, with Dannii serving as her coach.
She went on to represent Australia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, finishing second.
In recent times, the nation affirmed that it will compete again in 2024.
While there has been no official confirmation on whether Dannii and Kylie will reunite on stage, the sisters did perform together earlier this year at World Pride 2023 in Sydney.
Towards the conclusion of Kylie’s 30-minute show, ticket holders received more than they bargained for when Dannii joined her on stage and the two screamed out the chart-topping smash All The Lovers, much to the pleasure of fans.
Eurovision returns to BBC One on May 7, 2024.
