Reportedly, ‘flimsy and exposing’ ensembles are being eliminated from the Gladiators reboot.
After more than two decades away from our television screens, the game show has returned with a brand-new generation of superhuman Gladiators competing against a brave group of competitors in the ultimate measure of speed, skill, stamina, and strength.
The original series debuted on ITV in 1992 and ran for eight seasons until the year 2000.
Gladiators featured Cobra, Hunter, and Lightning, whereas the new contestants are Fury, Steel, Giant, Legend, and Fire.
As they compete against athletic TV fans, they may be performing comparable duties, but there is reportedly one difference.
A source revealed: ‘These flimsy costumes were deemed acceptable when the show started but they’re probably a bit too revealing today.’
The insider continued to The Sun: ‘The new ones won’t be too stuffy as they’ll highlight the female stars’ incredible physiques.’
This follows Vogue from the original series, whose real name is Suzanne Cox, telling the publication that she had to use bum adhesive to keep her attire in position.
After the announcement that father-and-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh will host, more details about the revival are gradually emerging.
The Chase star Bradley, 62, said: ‘Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show.
‘I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of GLADIATORS!!!
‘Saturday night family entertainment at its best…ARE YOU READY ?!’
Barney, 25, added: ‘Gladiators has been a massive part of our family and it’s an honour to be asked to co-host this iconic show.
‘I’m so excited for everyone to see the spectacle, elite athletes and fantastic family entertainment that is GLADIATORS.’
Gladiators returns to BBC soon.
