Susanna Reid has departed. After questioning Rishi Sunak, Good Morning Britain viewers were taken aback by her interview tactics.
On Tuesday’s episode of the ITV news show, the presenter, 52, was praised as a ‘absolute legend’ for addressing the prime minister about NHS funding, the cost of living problem, and HS2.
‘She knew what she was going up against and very impressive how she kept directing him back to the questions,’ a viewer commented on X, formerly known as Twitter.
‘Susanna is doing a brilliant job interviewing the prime Minister #gmb,’ another remarked, while a third said: ‘Susanna Reid has just made the prime minister look like a complete out of touch idiot, which is pretty on brand.’
Susanna addressed claims that the northern portion of the high-speed rail route to Manchester had been abandoned during a face-to-face meeting at the Conservative Party Conference.
Susanna had questioned Sunak if he was letting down the residents of Manchester, where the conference was being hosted, by potentially cancelling the transit link, to which he had evaded the issue and assured that everything was OK.
Susanna refused to back down, gently asking him to confirm or reject the cancellation of the additional HS2 line, but the agitated PM stated he would not comment on the rumour.
Susanna also decried the length of NHS waiting lists, which have reached record highs in recent months, saying that the public health system is ‘broken’ under Sunak’s leadership.
While Sunak disputed that the government was to blame for the NHS’s collapse, Susanna proceeded to provide statistics to the contrary, such as the fact that over 7 million people were now waiting for appointments.

Last May, she ultimately questioned Boris Johnson — after he preferred to hide in a fridge over speaking to the presenter and her former co-host Piers Morgan in the lead-up to the 2019 general election.
‘Are you honest, Prime Minister?’ Susanna said before tearing the then-PM apart.
She pressed him on the debilitating expense of life, the security breaches in his own office, and the scandals that overtook his own party, which are now being shown on television.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
