
A Welsh edition of Gogglebox has been confirmed and will be heading to the small screen pretty soon.
The popular show, which sees Britain’s best armchair critics give their opinion on the week’s biggest and best shows, began in 2013 and has won numerous awards during its run, including two Baftas.
After recent speculation, it was announced that Gogglebocs Cymru will be produced by Studio Lambert and S4C in Wales and the company is on the hunt for Welsh-speaking families to take part.
While no release date for Gogglebox’s Welsh counterpart has been announced, the new series is expected to launch in November.
Managing Director of Chwarel, Sioned Wyn said: ‘It’s going to absolutely amazing. We’ve been waiting a long time for something like this. The ambition is to make it not only the top-rated show on S4C, but the whole of Wales – and beyond.’
Not much is known about the upcoming cast, but according to S4C’s chief content officer, Llinos Griffin-Williams, they’re on the hunt for ‘exciting characters that truly represent a diverse modern Wales.’

‘Gogglebox is a brilliant TV format that captures the hearts and minds of a country,’ he added.
‘We want S4C to be an inclusive, exciting home for the very best of world class content that belongs to the whole nation.’
The iconic Channel 4 series is poised to return next week for its landmark 20th run.
While the standard series has been off air, fans have been able to enjoy the Celebrity version of the show which culminated in July.
The show featured stars from across the world of music, sport, TV, and film including Denise Van Houten, Martin and Roman Kemp, Oti Mabuse, Clare Balding, Stacey Solomon, Joe Swash, Shaun Ryder, Bez, Fearne Cotton, Gok Wan, and many more.
Gogglebox fans won’t have to wait long to tune in as the 20th series of the show will begin on Friday, September 9 at 9pm on Channel 4.
