Gogglebox fans have been absolutely loving the new Welsh version of the hit Channel 4 programme titled Gogglebocs Cymru.
The reality show hit screens in Wales first time on Wednesday on local broadcaster S4C and it received a very warm reception from viewers.
Much like the original version, it follows a cast of armchair critics as they deliver their sometimes withering verdicts on the week’s television.
Voiced by presenter and comedian Tudur Owen, the programme features families and friends from across the country, including from Bangor, Cardiff and Bridgend.
Among them are three brothers, Huw, Mike and Stephen, from Brynamman, and Elen, Natalie and Rebecca, a group of friends from Wrexham, where Ryan Reynolds has famously bought the football club.
There’s also husband and wife team Nayema and Osian from Caernarfon, grandfather and grandson Cian and John and partners Glain and Dafydd from Denbigh.
Fans flocked to Twitter to heap praise on Gogglebocs Cymru, with one branding the show ‘absolutely fabulous.’
Another remarked: ‘Loving Mark & Carwyn on Gogglebocs Fab entertainment! Love you boys!! #Gogglebocs #GogglebocsCymru.’
A viewer commented: ‘#gogglebocscymru ffantastic Carwyn a Mark.’
‘#gogglebocs#gogglebocscymru Mark and Carwyn on Gogglebocs Cymru absolutely fabulous! So funny. see you next week,’ a Gogglebox lover penned.
Over in the UK, a special edition of the hit show, featuring celebrities including Gordon Ramsey, recently aired to raise money for cancer charities.
In recent years, the famous sofa dwellers supporting the campaign have included Naomi Campbell, Noel Gallagher, the cast of Line of Duty, Graham Norton and Michelle Visage.
Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran were among the stars who took part in 2021’s show, which was hosted by presenters including Maya Jama, to help encourage viewers to donate.
Last year, the show raised an incredible amount of money in its mission to help fund research into new treatments for the disease, accumulating more than £31million.
Gogglebocs Cymru continues on Wednesday November, 2 on S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer.
