Celebrity Gogglebox star Babatunde Aleshe has admitted he’s determined not to get ‘cancelled’, as he heads Down Under for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The comedian, who usually appears on our screens as a TV critic beside Mo Gilligan, will be joining the likes of Boy George, Love Island’s Olivia Attwood, Lioness Jill Scott, and even Matt Hancock sources say.
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are returning to Australia this year with a new batch of celebs, all ready to be put through their paces in some grim and gruesome trials.
And while he can’t wait to get involved in the bushtucker trials, Babatunde will be steering clear of any drama.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other publications, he said: ‘I’d walk away from any drama, I’ve always said I’m like the least famous person here, so I’m not trying to mess up any opportunities.
He continued: ‘So if people want to argue, I’ll let them do that. I’m not getting cancelled yet.’
This will be the show’s first series Down Under since the pandemic hit, after the crew bid farewell to the beloved Gwrych Castle in North Wales where the previous two series have taken place.
Babatunde also revealed he had previously been asked to take part while the show was filming in Wales, but turned down the offer.
‘I wasn’t prepared for that,’ he told us, after revealing he had been offered the chance while it was in Wales.
‘When I was first asked, mentally I was like, there’s no way I’d be able to do it, but when it came back around for this year, I tried to think about it and picture myself in there, it was just a better time.’
As he prepares to enter the jungle, Babatunde has warned viewers that he’ll be doing ‘a lot of screaming’ in the jungle, confessing that the trials he’s dreading the most are the ones when contestants lie in boxes while covered by creatures such as mice or snakes.
‘People are going to get to know me through this show a bit better and I just want to enjoy everything. I don’t want to be King of the jungle,’ he said in a statement.
‘I am quite happy to go back to normal life afterwards. But it will be a great adventure and my wife is excited and happy I am doing it.’
I’m A Celebrity 2022 launches on Sunday November 6 at 9pm on ITV.
