One Gogglebox star appears to be fed up with the recent This Morning shenanigans.
The ITV programme has made news many times this year, with long-time presenter Philip Schofield leaving after admitting to lying about having an affair with a younger colleague.
Holly Willoughby then made the shocking revelation last week that she would no longer be hosting the show.
Making a social media announcementHolly, 42, said it was a ‘difficult goodbye’ and thanked her ‘dedicated and supportive’ fans.
According to rumours, ITV executives are considering Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway as successors following a particularly tumultuous year.
Giles Wood and Mary Killen watched tonight’s Gogglebox programme as Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary hosted the breakfast show in an episode about bed bugs.
As is customary for Gogglebox performers, Mary told Giles that Holly, 42, had left the programme.
Giles merely said, sarcastically, ‘I think there should be a minute’s silence in Parliament.’
While many individuals expressed their support for Holly on social media following her resignation, Ulrika Jonsson was not one of them.
Following Holly’s announcement that she will not be returning, the Instagram account The Archbishop of Banterbury posted a video of a blonde Wilko employee wandering around an empty store with the caption: ‘Holly Willoughby walking round the This Morning studio.’
The account also wrote that it was ‘the end of an era’. Chiming in, Ulrika then commented on the post and put her two cents in with a subtle dig.
‘Or the end of an error,’ she wrote. Ouch.
Giles’ remark echoed the atmosphere as one Sky News presenter, reporting from a warzone, paused coverage of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict to convey the ‘breaking news’ Holly had quit.
While reporting in Jerusalem, the reporter broke the news of the presenter’s surprising announcement.
He began by telling viewers: ‘Let’s get some news away from here now and it is breaking news…’
‘Shameful editorial decision, Sky News,’ fumed one person on X, formerly Twitter.
Another added: ‘I have to laugh that SkyNews has Jerusalem as it’s backdrop, an area where people are dying in large numbers, only to talk about Holly leaving This Morning.’
Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
