While fans await season two, Heartstopper author Alice Oseman has shared an exciting update about the upcoming installment of the beloved tale.
The first season of the Netflix success features Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), two young LGBTQ+ schoolboys who fall in love while overcoming their humiliation, fear, and bullies in order to courageously live as their authentic selves.
In the program, Yasmin Finney portrays Elle, a trans student who recently moved from the boys’ school to the girls’ school, and William Gao plays Tao, Charlie’s protective and jealous best friend.
In her most recent post, author Alice disclosed that volume five of the immensely popular novel series will be published on November 9 this year, followed by a sixth and ‘final’ installment.
Fans were obviously living for the update on social media, with one person writing: ‘It has been so long since i woke up to heartstopper news like this i’m gonna cry.’
‘THE BEST NEWS EVERRRRRRR. JUST PREORDERED A SIGNED COPY.’
Asexuality will be examined by newbie Isaac, according to screenwriter Alice. (Tobie Donovan).
‘Netflix will hate me for spilling, but yes, asexuality will be discussed on TV in a big way. I’m excited. I hope it’ll change the world,’ she told Attitude Magazine.
‘I hope when it happens in Heartstopper it doesn’t feel like a lesson. You know Isaac, you care about him, and now you’re going to learn something new about him.’
It comes after it was revealed that season 2 shooting wrapped in December, implying that we won’t have to wait long for it to return to our screens.
Alice characterised the process of making Series 2 as ‘incredibly intense’ while sharing pictures with Kit, 18, and Joe, 19.
‘That’s a wrap on Heartstopper season 2!’, Alice began in their caption. ‘It’s been an incredibly intense few months on set with many new challenges for the cast and crew, but everyone rose to those challenges with such passion and skill and determination.’
She continued: ‘Huge thanks to every single member of the cast and crew – everyone has worked ridiculously hard and given it their all, and for that I am eternally grateful.’
Heartstopper is available to stream on Netflix.
