High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be responsible for giving us the ultimate throwback for season 4 by casting some familiar faces.
The all-singing, all-dancing Disney Plus show is a spin-off from the movie series, which first hit cinema screens back in 2006.
Starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, the films followed divisions in school East High as students from different cliques competed for roles in the musical.
Similarly, and in a very meta fashion, the series sees a bunch of Wildcats vying for parts in their school production of High School Musical, all while navigating their own relationships.
And the nods to HSM are very much continuing with season 4 after it was confirmed Monique Coleman, Alyson Reed, and Bart Johnson would be reprising their original film roles.
Monique played president of the science club Taylor McKessie, while Alyson and Bart portrayed teacher Ms Darbus and coach Jack Bolton respectively.
They join their former HSM colleagues Corbin Bleu, Kaycee Stroh, and Lucas Grabeel, who have all appeared in previous seasons of the show and will be returning for series 4.
Season 4 looks set to take a turn into the ‘multiverse’, according to some viewers, after plot details were teased in a trailer.
Following an epic summer at Camp Shallow Lake, the students discover that their beloved East High is being used to film High School Musical 4 and they’ll all be playing featured extras.
Recently, OG HSM duo Zac and Vanessa paid a surprise visit to East High and captured the moment on Instagram.
The 17 Again actor paid homage to 1980s classic The Breakfast Club while standing outside Salt Lake High School East in Utah, where the majority of the Disney Channel movie was filmed.
Vanessa also shared a similar snap outside the iconic building a month prior.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is available to stream on Disney Plus.
