*Warning: Contains major spoilers for House of the Dragon.*
House of the Dragon is only just nearing the halfway point of its first season but brand new photos might have already revealed a huge spoiler for season 2.
So far, we’ve covered roughly five years of King Viserys’ (Paddy Considine) reign over Westeros – he has named his daughter Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) as his heir.
In addition, he has taken Rhaenyra’s best friend Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) to be his wife. The couple have two children, son Aegon and daughter Haleana.
Next week’s episode has teased a ‘royal wedding’, presumably between Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon (Theo Nate) – and we all know how weddings go in Westeros.
But one image in particular has got fans looking way ahead to the future, when the roles of Alicent and Rhaenyra are going to be handed to Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy.
If you haven’t read George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood, tread carefully beyond this point.

The shot capturing everyone’s eye is one featuring Alicent in a royal green gown – the colour green will become a very, very big deal in House of the Dragon.
Soon enough, likely in the next five episodes, King Viserys will die.
With Rhaenyra wanting to take her place as heir, and Alicent pushing for Aegon to take the Iron Throne, the kingdoms will split into two ‘teams’: the Greens and the Blacks.

It won’t happen for a few episodes yet, but that green dress will eventually decide the name of Alicent and Aegon’s team in the approaching civil war, the Dance of Dragons.
We’re yet to see Rhaenyra wear her infamous black dress that gives her supporters their collective name, but rest assured she will don the Daenerys-style look soon – most likely when Emma D’Arcy takes the role.
The show’s costume designer has told viewers to keep a look out for how Alicent and Rhaenyra’s costumes change as they grow up.
The final two episodes of the first season are set to be named The Green Council (directed by Clare Kilner, who helmed episode four) and The Black Queen.
These two episodes will establish the conflict to come in season two, which was renewed within a week of House of the Dragon’s premiere last month.
House of The Dragon is available to stream on NOW.
