It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again, as it feels like only yesterday Jill Scott was named Queen of the Jungle, but I’m A Celebrity 2023 is quickly approaching.
That means whispers about celebrities and, well, politicians who may be travelling Down Under under the watchful eye of long-time presenters Ant and Dec have began to circulate.
Last year’s lineup includes Boy George, Chris Moyles, and Sue Cleaver from Coronation Street, as well as the surprising inclusion of disgraced former health secretary Matt Hancock.
I’m A Celeb employers may sign anyone, however gossip is widespread that they’ve already enticed a This Morning celebrity, a soap actress, and, once again, a controversial politician.
Let’s take a look at all of the alleged I’m A Celebrity 2023 campmates.
Liz Truss
Liz Truss is not the first, nor will she be the last, MP to leave Westminster for a few weeks in Australia, following in the footsteps of colleague Hancock.
According to betting site OLBG, Conservative MP Truss is presently 25/1 to be among the next crop of celebrities to enter the jungle, as reported by The Sun.
She’ll be hoping she survives the jungle longer than she did as Prime Minister…
Josie Gibson
Josie Gibson, a This Morning babe, has apparently been given a large money to join I’m A Celebrity in an attempt to entice her away from Strictly Come Dancing.
A source revealed ITV bosses were ‘hellbent’ on snapping up the 38-year-old because ‘she’s incredibly down-to-earth and seems to strike a cord with people at home.’
They continued to The Sun: ‘They’re confident Josie will bring the laughs to I’m A Celebrity as she already does on This Morning and is guaranteed to get on with most of the jungle campmates.’
Catherine Tate
Catherine Tate is most known for her comedic work, including the recent BBC sitcom Queen of Oz, but she hasn’t ruled out appearing on I’m A Celeb, however she does have one condition about the bushtucker trials.
She told: OK: ‘I’m A Celebrity – I’m not saying never, I’m just saying, not now. I could literally do anything in the jungle, you could put me with rats and bury me underground, anything like that – but I couldn’t be eating that old gear they give you.’
Alan Halsall
Alan Halsall, who has played mechanic Tyrone Dobbs on Coronation Street since 1998, is said to be leaving Weatherfield for the jungle.
‘Tyrone is one of Corrie’s most-loved characters so Alan comes with a ready-made fan base,’ a source told The Sun.
They continued: ‘Alan is a top lad with bags of personality so ITV are over the moon he’s in talks to join their 2023 cast.’
Tom Skinner
Tom Skinner rose to prominence in 2019 on BBC’s The Apprentice, so perhaps it’s time for him to try his luck on an ITV reality programme.
The entrepreneur has gone famous with videos of him eating meals since his time attempting to impress Alan Sugar, but will he be able to nibble on creepy crawlies?
He told Virgin Radio: ‘Well, I’m bookies favourite for I’m A Celebrity this year you know, and I had a burger man at the market years ago and I’d literally eat anything so I don’t think it’d be a problem for me.’
Denise Van Outen
Denise Van Outen once told The Sun that ‘I’m A Celebrity for my 50th birthday would be something nice to do.’
What’s more, guess what? The Chicago actress is approaching a major milestone, having turned 49 in May.
If she participated this year, she would be in Australia just in time for the big 5-0.
The Vivienne
The Vivienne is the original winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and has previously appeared on Dancing On Ice, where she reached the final.
When asked whether she would consider flying to Australia for I’m A Celebrity, Lorraine was ecstatic.
The Vivienne told the Scottish broadcaster: ‘I’ve never thought about it but what an absolutely amazing opportunity that would be… Get me to that jungle, what a great life opportunity. I am all for that!’
Frankie Dettori
According to OLBG, Frankie Dettori is the bookies’ favourite, which has estimated he has a 71.4% chance of heading to the jungle, with odds standing at 2/5.
The jockey previously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and was the fifth person ousted from the house – but at the very least he has experience in cramped quarters.
I’m A Celebrity is available to stream on ITVX.
