I’m A Celebrity contestant Jack Maynard proposed to his girlfriend Lily Mackie, and she said yes.
The YouTuber, who fled the ITV show’s jungle in 2017 when inappropriate messages were discovered, announced his engagement to Pippa Middleton’s niece this evening (Friday, December 15) on Instagram.
The 29-year-old uploaded a slideshow of photos from the special day, opening with a snap of him and Lily holding a glass of pink champagne.
The pair was also joined by two French Bulldogs who were suited up as groomsmen and were seen embracing them on the beach after the proposal in one photo.
Meanwhile, another photo showed Lily grinning as she carved a pink cake topped with macarons and a ‘Mr & Mrs’ sign, while one of the last images showed Jack and Lily wearing raincoats and smiled at the camera, her sparkler in full display.
The social media star simply captioned the post: ‘Today, I got a fiancée 💍❤️.’
Naturally, Jack’s comments were flooded with congratulatory messages, including from his popstar brother Connor Maynard, who joked: ‘Today, I had a sandwich. Fml.’
Internet personality Ambar Driscoll enthused: ‘Ahhh amazing amazing!!!!!! Congratulations ❤️❤️.’
‘FINALLY🎉cant wait to celebrate you two!!!🤍😫,’ Aida Hidalgo added.
It is believed that Jack and Lily, who is the niece of former MIC star Spencer Matthews and thus Pippa’s niece, began dating around 2020, given Pippa is married to Spencer’s brother James.
After meeting her through his friend and Made in Chelsea actor Miles Nazaire, Jack allegedly became’smitten’ with her.
Jack previously dated Georgia Toffolo, and the couple made their relationship public after starring on I’m A Celebrity together in 2017.
Their time in the jungle was cut short, however, when Jack was kicked from the programme after only three days when racist and homophobic statements from 2011 and 2013 emerged on social media.
Speaking about his quick exit from I’m A Celeb when starring on Celebrity: SAS Who Dares Wins, Jack claimed it was difficult to recover from since he felt ‘publicly disgraced’.
‘About two years ago I was on I’m A Celebrity and I got removed after about four days from tweets when I was about 15 resurfaced that were politically incorrect,’ he explained.
‘I think it was a massive knock in my confidence being so publicly shamed, mentally I have been all over the place and I have lost a lot of confidence.’
I’m A Celebrity is available to stream on ITVX.
