I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! viewers have slammed Fred Sirieix for his ‘condescending’ attitude towards Sam Thompson.
The newest edition of the reality show asked campmates if they wanted to participate in the latest trial.
With two campmates required, individuals interested were encouraged to apply, and the group was then faced with reaching a decision collectively.
While Marvin Humes received universal approval after putting his hand up, several others, including Fred and Sam, indicated interest.
‘I’m happy to go as well. Happy to do it and you know, want to bring some stars back for the team,’ Sam said.
‘I think Marv should definitely be going because you haven’t done one yet and I know you are superman. And Fred, if you want to do it…’
However, Fred jumped in and stated unequivocally that he did not want Sam to take Sam’s position.
‘Don’t worry, I’m going. You can carry on playing with your toys, we’ll do the men’s stuff. I’m going with Marvin, I’ve already decided,’ he declared.
He continued: ‘You go tomorrow! I think the decision has been made. I think you’re all happy.’
While the group chose to let Fred have his way, others watching at home expressed their displeasure with the way he spoke to Sam.
‘The way Fred just spoke to Sam was disgusting,’ one person posted on X, formerly Twitter.
‘That comment had me fuming,’ someone else shared.
Another added: ‘What Fred said to Sam was so uncalled for.’
Many others called him a ‘bully’, while others said the way he had spoken to Sam was ‘patronising’.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Sam said: ‘I hope he doesn’t think that I just want to stay in camp. I really, really want to help. I also don’t want to argue about it. I don’t have a backbone. I’m not going to sit there and say, “No I want to do it”.’
Many other campmates questioned Fred’s pushiness to take part in another trial, with Nick Pickard saying the First Dates star ‘likes putting himself forward’.
‘I’ve got no problem with Fred going at all, but I don’t think he even took it to the vote, he was going no matter what,’ he added.
Meanwhile Danielle Harold said was ‘very forceful once he’s decided’.
At the conclusion of the trial, Fred and Marvin returned with five stars out of a potential eight.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1.
