Joanne Hardcastle revealed her departure from Interior Design Masters, detailing how she may have’manifested’ her removal in week 3.
There was a double exit during tonight’s episode of the BBC competition, with two candidates being sent home.
Joanne, who characterises her own design style of’modern vintage interiors’ as ‘eclectic,’ was one of the contestants.
She spoke up to Metro.co.uk about how she got on the programme in the first place, when a casting producer contacted out to give her a message about applying.
‘I hadn’t ever thought of applying, it never entered my head,’ she said, having initially been contacted about doing series three, before this year’s series four.
‘I got quite far with that process, but the time just wasn’t right, it didn’t all work out,’ she shared, which is why she was asked to return for the 2023 season.

‘They asked me to come back and apply this year, and I’d booked a holiday, I didn’t want to do it,’ Joanne admitted cheerfully.
‘But the casting producer rang me up again, and she sweet-talked me into it, so I thought yeah I’d give it a go.’
Joanne had to ‘think about it’ when she was invited to join the fourth season because she’really wanted to go on holiday,’ having planned to fly to France for three weeks after production finished.
While she’really wanted to go away,’ she said that she’might have manifested my holiday a little too much,’ since if she had been kept in the competition through week three, her husband would have gone on the trip without her.
‘This was my last chance to go away, so I’ve only got myself to blame,’ she added light-heartedly.
Joanne said that she ‘wasn’t the strongest designer’ in the cast, as she had suspected since the first week, but she ‘worked so hard’ and ‘gave it 110%’.
The ‘funny moments’ she experienced with host Alan Carr were the icing on the cake of her enjoyable experience.
‘He’s even funny off camera, when he’s walking down the corridor,’ she recollected.
‘Like I said last week, I just am a sweaty mess the whole time, and I said to him, “Look at me I’m a hot mess,” and he went, “You’re tepid,? so that banter was there, and that was lovely.’
Interior Design Masters returns next Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
