Some viewers are already persuaded that Kate Bush is competing on The Masked Singer, despite the fact that there has been a lot of speculation about who exactly is hiding behind the costumes on the show.
The first episode of the fourth season aired on Sunday night, and although six celebrities competed in the first round of bouts, it was former professional footballer Chris Kamara who was eliminated after his identity as Ghost was revealed.
The judges Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, and Jonathan Ross will also be tasked with trying to guess the identities of the 13 celebrities that will appear throughout the season. However, for the time being, the identities of the other characters Cat & Mouse, Jellyfish, Knitting, Otter, and Phoenix remain hidden from view.
However, there are still a lot of mysteries surrounding whose renowned faces are hiding behind the other contestants’ masks, and now there are some fans who are confident that they’ve solved the mystery of who another competitor is.
On the show, Otter sang the Baywatch theme song I’m Always Here, which lead some people to believe it was Kate belting out the song because of the unique vocals.
As one fan speculated: ‘Can’t believe we live in a world where it’s entirely possible Kate Bush is on The Masked Singer UK’.
‘I felt a fool suggesting it earlier but now I’m convinced that’s her voice and diction.’
Another wrote that: ‘Kate Bush not being seen in public for years and then revealing herself under an otter head makes absolutely 0 sense but I hope it’s true.’
While others weren’t quite convinced, they seem to be holding out hope for the reveal.
Another joked it could be possibly that the budget went towards securing her, because it ‘went somewhere’ and it ‘wasn’t on’ Chris’ costume, which has been labelled as ‘lacklustre’.
Meanwhile other people have totally shut the theories down.
‘Kate Bush hasn’t sung live on television since the 90s and you think she’s gonna make her re-debut to TV in an otter costume singing someone else’s music?’ some-one posted.
What are the clues for Otter?
Clues for Otter included a swimming pool with a sign that had words including ‘diving’ on, while fans noticed the first letter of each word spelled out RADA, which could stand for The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Others included a rubber duck, being ‘a little bit naughty’ and a four leaf clover.
Otter also said they were known for their ‘resilience’ and suggested they were known for making a splash – while their final riddle was: ‘Children, some say, should be seen and not heard, but of this Otter, I’d say, opposite is the word’.
Last year Kate enjoyed a resurgence in popularity this year after one of her signature tracks, Running Up That Hill, featured in the Netflix show Stranger Things.
Despite being released 37 years ago, it managed to soar to the top of the charts and reach number one after it was used as a soundtrack to Max Mayfield’s (Sadie Sink) survival towards the climax of season 4.
Next week’s show will see Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino and Rubbish perform.
The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
