According to reports, a celebrity has dropped out of I’m A Celebrity 2023 at the last minute.
It’s just a matter of weeks until the popular reality show returns to see a bunch of celebrities dumped into the Australian jungle, but an ITV star claims to have spilled the beans on some behind-the-scenes turmoil.
This Morning star Giles Brandreth said on Friday’s broadcast that he has been asked yet again to go on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! After earlier refusing the offer, I declined it once more.
And, he told broadcasters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, he was just approached this week – just in time for the 2023 season to begin.
‘I was asked again this year,’ he revealed.
‘What’s interesting is they must have asked me very last minute as I was asked only this week. So maybe somebody dropped out, and they were desperate,’ he suggested.
The actual roster for this year’s I’m A Celeb has yet to be announced, but there have been lots of whispers, including Katie Price‘s ex Danny Cipriani, The Apprentice’s Thomas Skinner, Denise Van Outen, and This Morning hottie Josie Gibson – unless any of these stars are the probable drop-outs.
We also don’t have a clear start date for the new season, but hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have been teasing the start of the programme with photographs of a ‘luxury hideaway’.
(We don’t think it will be that luxurious, unless eating bugs and getting covered in slime is your idea of a relaxing time.)
The video for I’m A Celeb 2023 is expected to debut this weekend, but in the meanwhile, we have a teaser clip, as well as photos of Ant and Dec wearing matching outfits that make them appear like hotel or spa personnel, as they show off a new jungle environment.
One image shows a five-star ‘The Jungle Retreat’ sign near some lavish robes, another shows the renowned walkway, and the third image shows the couple in an overhead angle raking out ‘Get Me Out of Here’ into the sand.
And in a teaser trailer, a mysterious voiceover teases: ‘Come away with us, far, far away. The Jungle Retreat awaits.’
This weekend, ITV1 will air the complete trailer.
Last year’s edition included a contentious roster, with former Health Secretary Matt Hancock joining the celebrity ensemble.
Jill Scott, a Lioness legend, was finally proclaimed Queen of the Jungle 2022.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX.
