Dancing On Ice producers are rumoured to be targeting Jane McDonald to replace Phillip Schofield when the show returns next year.
Schofield stepped away from all of his television responsibilities at the network with immediate effect last month, leaving the ITV competition programme with only one presenter, Holly Willoughby.
His resignation occurred after he acknowledged on This Morning to having an adulterous affair with a runner.
According to reports, Jane, 60, pleased producers after filling in for Schofield at this year’s British Soap Awards earlier this month.
‘Jane is now the favourite to replace Phillip on Dancing on Ice when it returns next year,’ according to insiders.
‘She did a great job hosting the Soap Awards earlier this month and bosses are keen to sign her up.’
They added to the Mirror: ‘She had people in stitches – and they love how frank she is, while also being very warm.’
‘This is pure conjecture, and we will not be announcing our talent for the 2024 season until later in the year,’ stated an ITV representative.
Of course, Jane would be an excellent choice for the role, having previously co-hosted a number of television programmes, including Loose Women.
She also hosted her own Bafta-winning travel show, Cruising With Jane McDonald, which debuted on Channel 5 in 2017.
Dancing On Ice is expected to return to ITV in January 2024.
