Janet Street-Porter has said that she has vowed not to attend political party conventions after being groped.
The Loose Women panellist, 76, disclosed the sexual assault after Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls, 56, asked if she’d had ‘terrible experiences’ at political summits on Wednesday’s episode.
‘Yes I’ve certainly been groped,’ Janet responded, causing Ed’s GMB co-presenter Susanna Reid, 52, to recoil in shock.
Janet continued: ‘Well, yes, at all those drinks parties with the cheap white wine. Also, you encounter a species of people that you don’t see anywhere else.
‘For example, at the Tory party conference this week, you’ll see a lot of strange young men: very pale, carrying clipboards with phones pressed to their ears.
‘I mean, they’re like mutants from another planet. They live in politics world and nothing else.’

Susanna, who spent yesterday reporting from the Tory party conference in Manchester, including an interview with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, questioned Janet about why she had called time on them.
‘Well, be honest, if you weren’t paid would you go?’ Janet quipped, causing Ed and Susanna to break out into giggles.
Speaking further about what it’s like at a conference, Janet explained: ‘It’s a weird cult. Here’s Britain with all sorts of urgent problems that need solving and these devotees, these card-carrying members, gather in halls out of the sunlight, all face the front. It’s Stalin-esque. Then they sell these really ugly souvenirs.’
Janet recently stated that she was in’shock’ after being harassed on a ‘peaceful stroll’ by herself in Kent by a guy who ‘drove up behind’ her and yelled profanity.
‘A car suddenly drove up behind me, the man behind the wheel screamed I HATE YOU, WE ALL HATE YOU, YOU ARE STUPID and when I tried walk away he turned round and spat out YOU WILL GO DOWN,’ she tweeted at the time.
She also discussed the horrifying event on Loose Women, and her co-stars Charlene White and Denise Welch pushed her to report it to the police.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
