Jane Fonda claims Jennifer Lopez neglected to apologise after harming her during a slap sequence in Monster-in-Law.
In the 2005 romantic comedy picture, the 85-year-old actress played the mother-in-law from hell, attempting to sabotage her son’s (Michael Vartan) wedding to Charlie. (Lopez).
During one memorable moment, Charlie and Viola’s emotions reach a boiling point, resulting in them being physical with one another.
The Grace and Frankie actress visited on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she discussed her experience filming the acclaimed film.
‘Well, okay,’ she said. The first thought that springs to mind is a slapping scenario. I slap her, she smacks me, and I slap her again.’
‘Well, Jennifer had this big diamond ring, according to Jennifer.
‘And so, when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eye, my eyebrow. You know, she’s never apologised.’
Drew, 48, was taken aback by the news and gasped when Jane, who just learned she was in remission following a cancer diagnosis, related the story.
The Maid in Manhattan star previously addressed the slapping scenario on her YouTube channel in a video titled, “I React to Monster-in-Law.”
The Love Don’t Cost a Thing singer explained: ‘She really, really went for it and so did I. And then I punched her in the eye by mistake. Ouch.
‘We talked about how we were going to do this over and over again and I was so afraid to hit Jane Fonda in the face and hurt her in any way.’
She continued: ‘I remember afterward Jane had a blood blister right at the top of her eye. My nail went up into her eye.
‘I was mortified. I was like, “I’m so sorry,” and she was like, “It’s fine. It’s fine.” And she didn’t care, she’s such a gangster.’
