The hosts of The Grand Tour, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, had reassembled, sparking suspicion that major news was on the way.
The most recent episode of the Prime Video series, which debuted in 2016, aired in September of last year, with the presenters travelling across Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
A few months later, Clarkson sparked outrage when he penned a scathing piece on Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, which became the most-complained-about-article-ever at Ipso (Independent Press Standards Organisation).
It was then reported that Clarkson had severed relations with Prime Video, with the streaming company claiming that it would not continue working with the 63-year-old after seasons of his programmes The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm had already been commissioned.
While the streamer has yet to officially confirm these rumours, after the Variety article, numerous fans believe Clarkson’s new Instagram post indicates that The Grand Tour may be returning shortly.
The TV celebrity posted a snapshot of himself seated in a boat with Hammond, 53, and May, 60, beaming from ear to ear.
Clarkson wore a black T-shirt, sunglasses and brown trousers for the excursion, while Hammond donned a dark grey top and a brown cap.
May, on the other hand, wore a T-shirt with a camera design on the front, while also sporting a blue headband.
‘The best photo I have seen all day! The Return!!’ one fan commented in response, while another added: ‘I hope it’s a 1.5 to 2 hour episode. We’ve been waiting!’
One user quipped that they’d been staring at the image for “seven hours,” while another said, “You three together always brightens up my day.” It gives me something to anticipate.’
Someone else might be seen in the distance behind Clarkson in the shot of the former Top Gear co-stars on the boat, maybe taking responsibility of the steering.
Beyond the lake, a swath of greenery could be seen amid the trees.
The Grand Tour episode that debuted on Prime Video last year was the first of the fifth season.
The release dates for the upcoming episodes are presently uncertain.
James May: Our Man In… and Oh Cook! were both renewed for fresh seasons earlier this year.
The Grand Tour is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
