Jordan Banjo and Carol Vorderman have opened out about their experiences on the current series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The Diversity dancer, 30, and former Countdown host, 62, will battle for the title of “I’m A Celebrity Legend” in an all-star edition of the iconic ITV programme.
All of the classic campmates are returning, from Amir Khan to Janice Dickinson, and Paul Burrell to Shaun Ryder – but things will be a bit different this time.
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the show’s hosts, will put the celebrities through their paces as they compete not just for food, but also for survival.
Yes, because the programme was taped last year, the audience has no say in who remains and who departs.
Instead, the campmates will have to win the Bushtucker Trials in order to stay in camp.
Jordan spoke on The One Show on Monday (April 17), when he discussed signing up for the show again and watching it run for the first time on television next week.
‘Scared is an understatement,’ he confessed.
‘Everything’s kinda gone up a level since Australia.’
Carol, however, said she ‘loved’ being part of the wild programme again.
‘Jordan and I, funnily enough, were in it together when we did it in 2016,’ she reminisced, noting that host Roman Kemp headed Down Under three years later for a stint in the jungle.
‘I just missed the invite for this one… saw everyone, the line-up was coming, waiting by the phone…’, he joked, having not made the line-up for the All Stars cast.
On how the experienced differed this time, Carol explained: ‘It’s quite a different set-up. The trials really are brutal, quite honestly.
‘To get rid of people, it was all head-to-head trials, so competitive!’
‘We’re all still friends, though!’, Jordan assured.
When asked how it goes down, living with the people you’re also booting out of camp, Jordan said frankly: ‘How does that go down? Quite awkwardly
‘You’ll be sat there, eating your rice and beans like, “I couldn’t survive in here without you, Carol”, then you walk off like, “I’m gonna absolutely smash her in tomorrow’s trial, gonna take her out!”‘
This series also features Helen Flanagan, Fatima Whitbread, and Phil Tuffnel, with Ant and Dec hinting that there may be some late guests.
Naturally, there’s been a lot of conjecture about who the latecomers may be, with names like Joe Swash and Gillian McKeith bandied about.
Indeed, it was reported last year that former King of the Jungle Joe had signed up for the new all-star series, having reigned supreme on the show in 2008.
A source has said: ‘Joe was always on the producers’ hit list as he was such an iconic winner. They [ironed] out the timings and came to a conclusion that worked.’
They added to The Sun: ‘He has flown out there and can’t wait to give a good account of himself for a second time on the show.’
Meanwhile, Gillian, one of the jungle’s most renowned occupants, was believed to be returning years after her notorious fainting incident.
‘Gillian’s performance in 2010 was nothing short of legendary,’ an insider said.
Talks are still ongoing and advanced, but everyone is confident she will put pen to paper and head to South Africa for filming in the next few months. It’ll be telly gold.’
Honestly, we can’t wait for the carnage to begin!
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! All Stars airs Monday, April 24 at 9pm on ITV.
