Kady McDermott is reportedly following in Adam Collard’s footsteps and returning to the Love Island villa for the second time.
In 2016, she featured in the second series of the revived ITV dating programme, when she paired up with Scott Thomas. The couple became boyfriend and girlfriend (can anybody else say this in Ryan Gosling’s Ken voice now?) and came in third place.
The people could easily detect love that year, as Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey, who are married with two children, took first place, and Alex and Olivia Bowen, who are also married with a kid, took second place.
Unfortunately, Scott, 34, did not fare as well, and the couple parted around a year after the programme.
She later dated Myles Barnett of The Only Way Is Essex, who appeared on the reality programme that made him famous, and Matty Cash of Aston Villa.
This isn’t the first time Love Island has used this approach; Adam returned to the programme in 2022 after his original 2018 appearance, while Jessie Wynter debuted in the most recent winter season after appearing in the Australian edition.
‘Kady was a fantastic Islander in 2016. She made brilliant television and bosses are hoping she can recreate the same magic in the villa this summer,’ a TV source told MailOnline.
With her volatile connection with Scott, whom she lived with in Manchester after the show, she definitely provided enough of entertainment the first time around.
Kady also had some spats with other ladies in the villa, notably Malia Arkian, with whom she had an altercation that lasted less than a day. Malia accused Kady of purposefully dropping her drink, to which she responded, ‘Do you think I’d waste my wine on your leg?’ Things escalated, and Malia was removed.
She was also envious when Scott went on a date with Tina Stinnes and labelled her a “Made in Chelsea reject.”
There were also some adorable moments, such as her tap dance at the yearly talent competition and Scott rolling up towels to say “Be my gf.”
‘She’s also still seeking for love, so Kady’s goal is that she can finally find the guy of her dreams,’ the person added.
They went on to say that Kady is now ‘older and wiser,’ searching for her ‘fairytale ending.’
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
